Today, Monday - October 19th,  FACT has officially started its first project in its new program "Biofuels for Local Development". The project "Promoting local agriculture and production of biofuels" will take place in Santiago - Veraguas - Panama".

Mr. Frans van Hulle, founder and managing director of Agro2 and Mr. Winfried Rijssenbeek on behalf of the FACT Foundation have officially signed the contract. For FACT, Ywe Franken will be managing the project the next three years. The main aim of the project is to develop local agriculture and production of ethanol from cassava residues.

The local farmers in cooperation with Agro2 are already starting up feedstock production and will develop a small-scale ethanol production unit. Part of the ethanol production will be managed by the local population. The project will experiment with the use of  the ethanol in low-grade ethanol cooking stoves and the remainder ethanol will be processed by a larger upgrading facility. We wish Agro2 and the farmers good luck with the project!
