As of mid-july, the FACT team is reinforced by a new team member: Mr. Bart Frederiks. Within FACT, Bart will hold the position of bioenergy conversion specialist. He will support the team with his knowledge on biomass to energy and biofuel conversion matters, and contribute to the development of new biofuel applications. In addition, he will be responsible for the development and implementation of FACT projects in the new FACT Programme Innovations in Biofuels for Local Development.

Bart is no stranger to Eindhoven, where FACT is located at the University campus. He studied electrical engineering at the Eindhoven Polytechnic and development studies at the Eindhoven University. He worked for eight years as a bioenergy consultant with BTG Biomass Technology Group in Enschede, where he was involved in studies and implementation projects in the field of bioenergy (combustion, carbonisation, anaerobic digestion, gasification, fermentation, etc). His work regularly took him to developing countries, particularly West Africa.
