On 27^th of November 2008 the self-sufficient, Jatropha-fuelled, rural electrification project in Garalo, named “Garalo Baganí Yelen” was officially opened by the Malian Minister of Energy, Mamadou Igor Diarra. The opening was realised through the revelation of the name of the “Kees Daey Ouwens Powerhouse”. Kees Daey Ouwens, founder of FACT Foundation, put great effort in the realisation of this project until October 2007, when he passed away.
