Training course on Cultivation of Jatropha

With pleasure we announce the first training course on Jatropha Cultivation, which will be held in Bilibiza, Cabo Delgado (near Pemba) Mozambique, from 14 to 26 September 2009.


The course is aimed at capacity building, with both theoretical and practical hands on training, of practitioners project leaders, extension officers and other people involved in similar projects, working with small farmers,  within SADC countries, having an agricultural background in education and/or practical experience.  

 

The course covers good production practices for jatropha as learnt through experience gathered from working with small farmers and extensive on-farm research work in Mozambique. The present project leaders and extension officers will train the participants, mostly in the fields they are working with the farmers in Farmers Clubs.Participant shall also be introduced to jatropha processing and conversion technology in the newly established bio fuel center.  

 

The main Teachers are the present project leaders in the FACT-ADPP Pilot project in Cabo Delgado (see www.fact-fuels.org ), which have gained up to date knowledge of cultivating Jatropha with small subsistent farmers, over the last three years. Guestlectures will be given by Flemming Nielsen, responsabkle for the Jatropha research component, Jacob Menyani Zulu, head of all Farmers Club programmes for ADPP in Mozambique and Jan de Jongh.
